Neurasty was founded in 2016. The name derives from the term “neurasthenia,” referring to the malfunction of the nervous system—a dysfunction affecting various human faculties following traumatic events. The band went through several lineup changes before settling on its current formation around the pre- and post-pandemic period: Viviana Schirone (vocals), Gabriele Vellucci (guitar and extreme vocals), Silvio Assaiante (bass), and David Folchitto (drums). Coming from different cities and backgrounds—Agro Pontino, Naples, and Rome—the band unites diverse worlds and musical styles into a distinct, raw, and aggressive identity. Their strength lies in this diversity, reflected in a continuous flow of distorted and melodic riffs, alongside clean, raspy, and extreme vocals. Neurasty’s modern metal is crafted with precision and depth, influenced by death and progressive roots. Their debut album explores a universal theme: the human response to trauma and its consequences, in all its facets, both light and dark.
