Castel Volturno is a seaside town in the province of Caserta, surrounded by a lush pine forest and entirely washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea. This edition of Southammer Metal Fest will take place in the stunning setting of Flava Beach, a beach venue well known for hosting numerous music events, including Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin, Tedd Patterson, Marlene Kuntz, Napolindie, Jova Beach Party, and many more. The area is also conveniently located: 190 km from Rome, 25 km from Naples, and 30 km from Caserta, all easily reachable via provincial roads and highways.
BY CAR:
From Napoli: Take the ring road (tangenziale) toward Pozzuoli for about 25 km. A couple of kilometers past the “Varcaturo” exit, you’ll reach a fork—follow signs for “Castel Volturno Sud – Litorale Domitio”. After about 3 km, the ring road ends and you’ll merge onto SS Domitiana. Continue along the Domitiana for about 6 km until the fifth roundabout. Take the roundabout and immediately turn right onto Via Dante Alighieri. Follow this road until you reach Flava Beach.
From Caserta: Take the A1 motorway toward Naples. About 5 km after the toll booth, take the “Asse Mediano – Pomigliano/Villa Literno” exit toward Villa Literno. Continue for about 25 km. Six kilometers past the Villa Literno exit, you’ll reach a fork—follow signs for “Litorale Domitio”. Continue until the road ends, then turn right. After about 2 km, turn right onto SS Domitiana and continue for about 1 km. At the first roundabout, take the roundabout and immediately turn right onto Via Dante Alighieri. Follow this road until you reach Flava Beach.
From Rome: Take the A1 motorway toward Naples for about 190 km until the toll booth. After paying the toll, continue for about 5 km and take the “Asse Mediano – Pomigliano/Villa Literno” exit toward Villa Literno. Continue for about 25 km. Six kilometers past the Villa Literno exit, take the fork toward “Litorale Domitio”. Continue until the road ends, then turn right. After about 2 km, turn right onto SS Domitiana and continue for about 1 km. At the first roundabout, take the roundabout and immediately turn right onto Via Dante Alighieri. Follow this road until you reach Flava Beach.
To get to Flava Beach – Lido Fiore, as an alternative to Google Maps directions, you can set your navigation app to “Flava Kids”, as many attendees have found this option easier to follow than the route suggested by Google.
BY BUS:
From Naples: Take bus 01-NA Napoli – Mondragone, with frequent departures from Piazzale Tecchio, Naples. The journey to Castel Volturno takes about 1h 20m. The stop to get off at is “Di fronte Pescheria Nasti”, about 1 km from Flava Beach. After getting off, walk back to the roundabout, cross Domitiana, and follow Via Dante Alighieri to reach Flava Beach.
From Aversa: Take bus 06-NA Aversa – Mondragone, with frequent departures from Aversa, stop at Via Libertà 80. The journey takes about 50 minutes to Castel Volturno. Get off at “Di fronte Pescheria Nasti”, about 1 km from Flava Beach. After getting off, walk back to the roundabout, cross Domitiana, and follow Via Dante Alighieri to reach Flava Beach.
From Caserta: Take bus 07-CE Caserta – Pinetamare, with frequent departures from Caserta station, Piazza Garibaldi. The journey takes about 1h 15m to Castel Volturno. Get off at “Between 526 and 538”, less than 1 km from Flava Beach. After getting off, continue to the roundabout and follow Via Dante Alighieri to reach Flava Beach.
BY TRAIN:
From Villa Literno: Castel Volturno does not have its own train station. The nearest station is Villa Literno, about 7 km away. Once you arrive at Villa Literno, you can reach Castel Volturno by taking bus 06-NA Aversa – Mondragone, which stops frequently at Villa Literno (stop: Via Vittorio Emanuele 199). The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Get off at “Di fronte Pescheria Nasti”, about 1 km from Flava Beach. After getting off, walk back to the roundabout, cross Domitiana, and follow Via Dante Alighieri to reach Flava Beach.
BY PLANE:
From Naples: To reach Castel Volturno by air, the nearest airport is Naples Capodichino. On site, you can rent a car or take a taxi. It is also possible to reach Piazzale Tecchio by taking bus 180 from the stop “Maddalena – Aeroporto Capodichino”, with a travel time of about 45 minutes. From there, you can follow the same directions as in the “By Bus from Naples” section, arriving in Castel Volturno via bus 01-NA Napoli – Mondragone.
